Dr. Anand SomayaDr. Anand Somaya received his Medical Education in the prestigious Armed Forces Medical College in Pune. He spent seven years as a doctor in the Armed Forces from 1971 to 1978. During this period he was involved in treating battle casualties from the 1971 Indo Pak War in a high altitude hospital in Leh, Ladakh.

He then trained in Cardio Vascular Surgery under Dr. Nemish A. Shah and Dr. T. P. Kulkarni, who were both pioneering leaders in cardiac and vascular surgery. He did a Fellowship at the Texas Heart Institute under direction of the world renowned Cardio Vascular Surgeon Dr. Denton A. Cooley. He also trained with Dr. Donald Ross in London. He has been involved in treatment of the diseases of the heart and blood vessels from 1980 onwards and he is attached as a Consultant to the Bombay Hospital Institute of Medical Sciences, The Cumballa Hill Hospital and the Breach Candy Hospital.

He is a founder member of the Vascular Society of India, whose purpose was to impress upon the public the importance of vascular diseases and its treatment. He was also President of the Vascular Society of India from 1997 to 1999 and increased the membership from a fledgling society to the 200 strong members it has today.

He has started the Bombay Vein Clinic dedicated to helping patients with all types of venous disease.
